Heritage Microfilm Announces International Initiative
Cedar Rapids, Iowa (PRWEB) February 7, 2009 -- Cedar Rapids-based Heritage Microfilm announces an international initiative aimed at preserving and making accessible the world's newspaper history. The initiative will consist of working with newspaper publishers and libraries to identify and secure newspapers and newspaper microfilm which are unique and generally unavailable.
Preservation will involve archival microfilming of international newspapers, using the most modern methods and standards. Heritage Microfilm will also work with content holders to remaster any damaged or obsolete film. The initiative will also aim to digitize the microfilmed newspaper content and make it available to the world via NewspaperARCHIVE.com, the world's largest digital newspaper archive.
"We're excited about the opportunity to work with newspapers from around the world," said Jeffrey Kiley, General Manager for Heritage Microfilm and NewspaperARCHIVE.com. "Over the past decade, we've worked with hundreds of domestic papers, and are now in a position to focus on international papers of record."
Heritage Microfilm hopes to announce the first of many promising relationships in the upcoming days.
